TE TŪRANGA I THE ROLE: 

We’re looking for a talented Data Engineer to join Sky and help shape the future of our data capability. You’ll be part of a passionate Data Engineering team, responsible for enhancing and supporting our Snowflake data platform. This hands-on technical role focuses on building and optimising data pipelines, managing platform performance, and enabling scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions that power decision-making across the business. 

Reporting to the Manager – Analytics & BI, you’ll work closely with the wider Data & Business Intelligence team to deliver our data roadmap, ensuring quality, reliability, and automation are at the heart of everything we do. If you’re an innovative problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves turning information into actionable insights, we’d love to hear from you. 

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Monitoring and maintaining Snowflake performance, security, and cost optimisation. 
  • Designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable data ingestion pipelines. 
  • Integrating data from diverse sources using ETL/ELT frameworks. 
  • Building CI/CD pipelines and implementing infrastructure-as-code. 
  • Collaborating across teams to ensure data quality, governance, and continuous improvement. 

NGĀ PŪKENGA ME NGĀ WHEAKO I WHAT YOU WILL BRING  

You’ll bring proven experience in building and maintaining data platforms, with strong technical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. You’ll be passionate about leveraging modern data tools and practices to deliver secure, high-quality, and future-ready data solutions. 

ESSENTIAL 

  • 5+ years’ experience in databases, data engineering tools, and analysis. 
  • Proficiency in Snowflake, AWS, and ETL tools such as NiFi. 
  • Strong skills in SQL and modern programming languages such as Python. 
  • Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows. 
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills. 

PREFERRED 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field. 
  • Experience working across a modern data stack, particularly combining Snowflake, AWS, NiFi, and dbt in integrated workflows. 
  • Background in subscriber-based or high-volume data environments.
