Job Description

TE TŪRANGA | THE ROLE

As a Content Specialist – Entertainment, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Sky’s entertainment content programming efforts across Sky-built channels and platforms. Reporting to the Entertainment Content Programming Lead, you’ll be responsible for identifying, assessing, and curating content that meets audience needs and reflects the identity of Sky’s entertainment brands.

Working closely with Content Leads, Planning, Marketing, Product, and Partnership team. You’ll ensure that the right content is selected, positioned, and scheduled effectively. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role for someone passionate about content and audience connection, with strong editorial instincts and platform awareness.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Key responsibilities will include:

Programming & Evaluation

  • Own programming schedules for allocated Sky-built entertainment Channels across multiple platforms.
  • · Evaluate and recommend content using performance data, audience insights, and editorial judgement

    · Identify standout content opportunities across distributors, formats, and genres

    Audience & Platform Alignment

    · Maintain a deep understanding of Sky’s entertainment audiences and platform behaviours

    · Ensure content selections align with the editorial identity and audience expectations of each service

    · Monitor trends and viewership patterns to refine programming over time

    Operational Support & Cross-Team Coordination

    · Support execution of the entertainment content strategy through scheduling, documentation, and rollout

    · Collaborate with Content Leads, Planning, Marketing, Product, and Technology to align programming efforts

    · Contribute to distributor engagement by preparing editorial feedback and supporting the Rolling Forecast file

    Content Catalogue & Promotional Planning

    · Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Sky catalogue, upcoming releases, and distributor pipelines

    · Contribute to the Master Content Plan with content priorities and channel-specific insights

    · Support curation and presentation of content across platforms, including editorial input into featured collections

    Essential

    · Passion for content, audiences, and entertainment culture

    · Strong content assessment and analytical skills

    · Demonstrated understanding of media platforms, digital products, and content formats

  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams in an agile environment
  • Confident working collaboratively across teams and functions
  • Fast learner with basic budgeting or forecasting awareness
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Legal right to work in NZ as defined by Immigration NZ
  • Preferred

  • Experience in media, broadcasting, streaming, or content programming environments
  • Exposure to content strategy, planning cycles, or acquisition support
  • Familiarity with audience segmentation, viewing trends, or performance reporting tools
