TE TŪRANGA I THE ROLE
Are you a savvy storyteller with a passion for sport and a knack for building hype? Sky is on the hunt for a Sports Publicist to champion our stellar Sky Sport line-up, tell the stories behind the action, and make sure Kiwis know exactly where the best sport lives.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, you’ll play a lead role in driving the publicity game plan for Sky Sport. From our award-winning talent to the unrivalled depth and breadth of our content, you’ll be the one bringing it to life across Aotearoa’s media landscape. This is your chance to turn your passion for sport into headlines, features, and unforgettable media moments.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering proactive publicity campaigns to support Sky Sport content, talent and brand.
- Pitching and securing earned media coverage across broadcast, digital, and print.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with sports media, stakeholders and talent.
- Identifying and leveraging media opportunities around key sporting moments and stories.
- Collaborating across marketing, social media and internal teams to amplify our messages and reach.

You’ll be a natural communicator with a nose for a good story and a love for all things sport. You know how to build relationships, spot publicity gold, and deliver campaigns that cut through the noise. You’re proactive, confident, and ready to own the sports publicity space at Sky.
ESSENTIAL
- 4+ years’ experience in publicity, communications, or journalism.
- Solid network and media relationships within New Zealand’s sports and media scenes.
- Passion for sport – you live and breathe it.
- A persuasive communicator with proven influencing skills and a strategic mindset.
- Self-starter with a creative spark and eye for opportunities others might miss.
