TE TŪRANGAI - THE ROLE:
We’re looking for a skilled Camera Operator to help create the magic behind Sky’s Sport productions.
In this role, you will maintain and enhance the high standard of camera work across Sky’s sport broadcasts. You’ll primarily film in field but have the ability to film studio content to meet Sky Sport's needs, with strong editorial skills to edit content for direct-to-air, OB and online.
You’ll also direct talent and guests during shoots, troubleshoot issues under pressure, and operate or learn to operate Live U equipment while connecting IFB/Comms systems for live crosses. This exciting role offers travel opportunities, taking you across New Zealand and internationally.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Operate multiple cameras to the highest standards across various environments, including news-style press conferences, documentary interviews, feature stories, quick turnaround content, and live broadcasts. Ensure proper lighting and audio capture for high-quality shoots.
- Operate Sky’s studio cameras during pre-recorded and live shows, maintaining high production standards.
- Manage, maintain, and oversee all Sky field equipment, including cameras, lenses, lights, tripods, microphones, and Live U kits. Ensure equipment readiness for all productions and manage the “Eng Hut” for storage, maintenance, and kit development.
- Lead camera teams during large-scale events, such as the Olympics, ensuring coordination between production and freelance crews. Ensure all equipment and logistical requirements are met.
- Edit stories, social media content, and rushes to a high standard, delivering final pieces directly to platforms. Direct talent and guests during shoots in the absence of a dedicated director.
- Uphold high broadcast standards across all Sky Sport shows and platforms, ensuring technical excellence for both internal and third-party stakeholders.
NGĀ PŪKENGA ME NGĀ WHEAKO - WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in television camera work, with a strong preference for experience in sports production environments.
- Proven experience both in studio and outside broadcast (OB) production settings.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct, influence, and drive key production outcomes.
- A creative approach to make content in new innovative ways, finding the story and creating the moment on camera.
- A valid Driver’s License with the necessary endorsements.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required by production schedules.
