TE TŪRANGAI - THE ROLE:
Are you our new Sky Sports Lead - Craft Operations?
We're looking for a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of the Outside Broadcast (OB) production environment. As the Lead – Craft Operations, you'll oversee a range of key production roles including EVS Operators, Vision Mixers, Floor Managers, and CCU Operators.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an established leader or someone eager to step into a leadership role, where you’ll have the chance to mentor, lead, and support a large talented team of professionals. In addition to leading craft teams, you’ll build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the seamless delivery of top-quality broadcasts.
You will also play a key role in developing the next generation of media professionals by working closely with educational providers to highlight career opportunities in production.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with Sky’s internal stakeholders (Operations Manager, Executive Producers, Producers, Production Managers, Lead Camera Operator and Lead Audio Engineer) to meet production requirements.
- Partner with the Organisational Development team and training providers to identify skills gaps, and plan and implement strategies to enhance the depth and capabilities of the contractor talent pool.
- Support the effective management of production budgets, ensuring compliance and meeting all contractual obligations of Sport Production through your craft rostering.
- Be a key contact and leader for contractor craft groups, fostering strong relationships across the country.
- Own and manage the scheduling/rostering system for Sports production crews.
- Lead and inspire your team to align with Rangiata,Sky’s vision, goals, and objectives, ensuring high performance and accountability across the board.
- Drive a culture of high performance, agility, and customer-focused solutions.
- Champion an inclusive and supportive environment, ensuring all team members feel empowered and valued.
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to direct reports, ensuring personal and team success.
NGĀ PŪKENGA ME NGĀ WHEAKO - WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in sport production, media, or broadcasting, with a strong technical craft background.
- Proven experience in both studio and outside broadcast (OB) production environments.
- Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage and inspire large, diverse teams across multiple production roles.
- Operate at least one of the crafts you’ll lead, to a Senior level.
- Valid Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required by production schedules.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) at an intermediate level.
- NCEA Level 3 in English and Mathematics (or equivalent qualification).
