TE TŪRANGA I THE ROLE: 

As a Digital Platform Engineer at Sky, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our OTT platform. You’ll design and implement core services that underpin our customer experiences, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and secure.  

What you’ll do: 

• Primarily using Java, you will design, build, and operate core services behind our high-volume APIs, supporting customer experiences across TV, mobile, and web. 
• Design and implement AWS cloud infrastructure to scale our platform. 
• Work alongside cross-functional teams, including product, UX/UI designers, app developers, and data experts to enhance our digital products. 
• Utilise monitoring tools to proactively address performance issues and ensure the platform operates at its best. 
• Design, build, and operate core services behind our high-volume APIs, supporting customer experiences across TV, mobile, and web. 
• Uphold safety standards and contribute to a safe work environment for all. 

NGĀ PŪKENGA ME NGĀ WHEAKO I WHAT YOU WILL BRING  

We’re looking for someone with a blend of strong technical expertise, a passion for innovation and a collaborative mindset, who can join our team to help us shape the future of entertainment at Sky! 

Essential Experience: 

• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience. 
• Solid experience with Java programming, particularly cloud-based, high-availability services. 
• A strong understanding of distributed, event-based programming models. 
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly. 

Preferred Experience: 

• Experience with Spring Boot, GraphQL, Gradle, AWS, Redis, OAuth. 
• Experience with JVM memory management and tuning, high volume Java concurrency/async programming, load testing and tuning. 
• A broad understanding of various technologies, allowing you to approach challenges with a well-rounded perspective and adapt to new tools and frameworks as needed. 
• An eagerness to stay updated with industry trends and technologies, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance your skill set.
